Your AG Dream Doll

I think with the antebellum doll, people are mostly intersted in the fancy clothes and hoop skirts.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I agree, I don't think anyone is really suggesting AG does a doll or her stories on such a topic, but even if they are, I don't think the people here who want to see that are being insensitive. We all just want to see gorgeous doll clothes, and there's no doubt AG could make some wonderful clothes for such a girl. However, there are MANY other periods which also have lovely clothes....

I really want to see an Asian doll, and Jewish girl before anything else. After that, I'd like to see another African American girl. But deffinitly Asian and Jewish first.

Like Jordyn mentioned, I'd also like the Jewish girl to be a Russian immigrant, and with long, light brown hair and maybe blue eyes. And I'd like the Asian to be in California, with her dad working on the railroad ( [img]graemlins/music.gif[/img] ).

I would also like to see a doll from the 70s, I'd like her to be caucasian, and have LONG brown hair with no bangs. My mom was in her teens in the 70s, and I'd just love to see a doll that looks like her.

Like zap_sea said, 1964 would be perfect for another AA doll.

And another red head somewhere, lol, I don't care what her story is, lol.

Thats my dad's family backround. If there ever was a doll like that-I'd name her Ida, after my grandmother. (Her parents immigrated from Russia). My mom and her family immigrated to Brooklyn from Israel in the 50's. However, I think the Russian backround is more appealing.

I like the idea of an immigrant girl historical, although Kirsten really does fill that necessity. I have a love for all things pioneer, but again, Kirsten fills that spot, too. Ummm... hmm. To be honest, I can't think of a time period that I'd really like to see a doll from. Perhaps the 1960's, but I think the 60's still hold too much political weight these days for AG to tackle that era quite yet. I agree it seems as though there is a need for an Asian historical. There were so many Asian immigrants into California in the late parts of the 19th century... that could be a potential subject.

as for my ideal AGT, I'd love a wavy brown haired doll (no bangs) with green or hazel eyes and freckles... just so I could have a doll that looked exactly like me. [img]wink.gif[/img]

My dream AG would be a historical from 1924 living in Chicago with parents who are self-made millionares. Or to really spice things up, bootleggers in secret [img]wink.gif[/img]

She would have super short, (a bit shorter than Kits) dark brown (kinda like the new AGT actually) and wavy hair with hazel or even amber colored eyes. She could probably have little bangs too since those were popular as well, to differentiate her more from Kit. I would buy her in an instant. I LOVE the 20s.

Went back and read more of the posts and wanted to add a few things:

I agree that the main reason why people want to see an antebellum doll is for the clothes. BUT, if thats the case, then people just make them or find someone to make them for a doll because I think a planation girl would be VERY insensitve.

I dont think AG should limit itself to just Kirsten when it comes to immigrants. Nearly every person that came to this country immigrated here and we didnt all have the same expierence, so why should one doll stand as "the immigrant doll"? I think AG could easily add an Asian immigrant in the west or a Jewish or Catholic Italian immigrant living in New York City during the 1890s.

I know many people would like to see a Jewish historical, but we already have Lindsey. Personally, I think we tend to forget had badly Catholics were treated in this country 100 years ago and I would really to see a Catholic girl and her perspective on the American immigrant experience. Heck, I was raised Catholic and so I certainly make fun of it a lot myself (and dont consider myself part of that faith anymore anyway) but I get sick to death of people making stereotyped and ignorant assumptions even today and instantly assuming that anything protestant is far superior. I switched universities because I got sick of the anti-catholic vibe. And Im not even Catholic anymore! AG doesnt shy away from hard sunjects so I think they can handle this.

One final thing, I LOVE the idea of AA girl from the south during the civil rights movement.
